Yvonne “GG” Ward, of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at the age of 77. She was born on August 7, 1948, in Crosbyton, Texas, and spent most of her life in Amarillo, Texas, where she built a lifetime of love, laughter, and family memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Odell and Dorothy Justus; her brother, Kenneth Justus; and her beloved son, Brent Ward.
GG will be remembered most for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She gave generously, even when she had little to give, always opening her heart and home to anyone in need. Known as the best breakfast maker and the keeper of family traditions, GG was lovingly famous for her dressing and Christmas chili. Every Christmas, she made sure all of the grandkids received lifesaver gummies—a simple gesture that became a treasured family tradition and a symbol of her thoughtfulness.
Yvonne found joy in everyday moments and in life’s simple blessings. She was patient, peaceful, and always carried a gentle smile. Her laugh was contagious, and she had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, seen, and loved. She lived out her faith with quiet grace and strength, often finding comfort in her favorite Bible verse, Joshua 1:9:
“Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Her family takes solace in knowing she is now reunited with her son Brent—healed, whole, and joyfully welcomed into Heaven.
Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Tracy Hanson, and husband Frank; her brother, David Justus, and wife Darlene; and seven grandchildren: Brittany Ward, Jordan Ward and wife Amanda, Ally Ward and Michael, Cody Hanson and wife Christi, Brad Hanson and wife Rikki, Quintin Hanson, and Jacob Hanson. She also leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren, several nieces and a nephew, and many dear friends who were like family.
GG’s legacy is love—steady, generous, and everlasting. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
The family will be holding a private celebration of Yvonne’s life. They extend their heartfelt thanks for the love, prayers, and support shown during this time.
