Altagracia B. Ruiz

Altagracia Banuelos Ruiz, 101, died Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Carlin Springs Health & Rehabilitation in Arlington, Virginia. She was born in Billings, Montana, on March 19, 1924, daughter of the late Sabino Banuelos and Maria Herrera. She was married to Jose F. Ruiz Sr. for 63 years, until his death in 2007. She made Arlington, VA her lifelong home.

Altagracia was the devoted mother of seven children. She is survived by six of them; Jose F. Ruiz Jr., Maria Vanvliet, Graciela Cousineau, Eduardo Ruiz, Felipe Ruiz and Roberto Ruiz. She was preceded in death by her son, Enrique Ruiz who died in 2012. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, as well as many great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with a subsequent Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, Delaware 19958.

Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road in Dagsboro, Delaware 19939, where Altagracia will be laid to rest.
