Barbara Jean Jamison McKnight died peacefully in her home of 30 years in McLean on August 27, 2017 surrounded by family. Mrs. McKnight was born in 1930 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to Agnes and George Jamison. She graduated from Jeannette High School in 1948 and attended Katherine Gibbs School of Business in New York City . She worked as an executive secretary for the American Tuberculosis Association . Barbara met Clarence “Mac” McKnight on a blind date and they began their 65 year marriage upon his graduation from West Point in 1952. As an Army wife, Mrs. McKnight moved 33 times in 35 years. She was active in officers’ wives’ activities in the United States, France, Germany, El Salvador, and Panama, and was the Honorary President of the Signal Officers’ Wives’ Club in the Washington, D.C. area. Mrs. McKnight devoted much of her life to raising their two daughters, Lynn (Pickard) and Marsha (McKnight). She was a Girl Scout troop leader, taught Sunday school , and was a volunteer at the Fort Myer thrift shop for many years. Family and friends will miss her radiant smile, her sense of humor, and her graceful, loving personality. Mrs. McKnight is survived by her husband, LTG (R) C. E. McKnight, Jr., their two daughters, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services and burial at Arlington National Cemetery will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barbara McKnight Memorial Scholarship Fund of the Army Officers’ Spouses’ Club of the Greater Washington Area (AOSCGWA, P. O.
