
Of Arlington, VA passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Friday, January 30, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Captain John H. Thompson, USNR; mother of Sarah Costantino (Robert), Kathleen Mellenberg (Rudy), Teresa Walters (Jim), and Mary Ann Smith (Keith); sister of Sara Beck. She is also survived by her many grand and great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Sarah Thompson, Carol Hall (Frank) and sister-in-law, Anne Forsht. She was preceded in death by her son, John H. Thompson, Jr., and her brothers, Daniel, Francis, Joseph, and Robert O'Leary and sister, Mary Jane Molnar. A real "Rosie the Riveter", she was a ball bearing inspector during World War II, married the love of her life, followed her husband to various duty stations as a Navy wife, and raised their five children. Her last formal position was as a bookkeeper for a dental office. Catherine loved her family and will certainly be missed by them, especially by "all of her favorite" daughters.Friends may call to the Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22203 on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1910 N.
