
Clarence LoRay (Ray) McCrary, Jr. died on May 21, 2016 in Arlington, Virginia at the age of 82.
He was the only child of Mildred Hughes McCrary and Clarence LoRay McCrary.
Ray served in the Navy during the Korean War for which he earned a National Defense Service Medal.
He went on to have a successful commercial real estate career with H.G. Smithy Company and as an
independent broker. Active in Kiwanis, Ray was also a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the
Scottish Rite. No one will ever replace him in our hearts, but we take comfort in the fact that
God has summoned Ray to be with his parents, his daughter Debbie Goodman, and his son Scott McCrary,
all of whom predeceased him. Ray is survived by his daughters Sharon Oliver (Geoffrey), Robin Rooney
(John) and Hollie McCrary; his stepchildren Edward Woodruff (Tisch), Shellie Smith (Kirby), and Brian
Woodruff (Diana); and his son-in-law Michael Goodman. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lauren
Pongallo (Nicholas); Kyle, Michael and Megan Oliver; John Rooney (Nicole); Kristina Bryant (Kevin);
Caitlin and Austin McCrary; Sarah and Margaret Goodman; Christina, Jamie and Eddie Woodruff; Ayla,
Raina, Blake and Trevor Woodruff; and, Olivia and Constance Leedham; and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad Street, Falls Church, VA from
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25,
2016 at 1:00 pm at Leesburg United Methodist Church, 107 W. Market Street, Leesburg, VA.
