AGE 96 * ARLINGTON, VA
Constance Jones Chesley died peacefully early morning on December 19, 2016.
Connie, the third of five girls was born on March 26, 1920 to Beulah Nicholson and Samuel Creighton Jones in Dickerson, MD.
From an early age, Connie showed musical talent as the daughter of a music teacher .
She and her sisters formed much of the choir at St. Mary's in Barnesville, MD where she became the organist at 16 years of age. She loved her high school years at St. Joseph's in Emmitsburg, MD and always enjoyed the reunions . Over the years she contributed her gift of music to St. John's, Frederick, MD, St. Ann's in Arlington, VA and Vinson Hall, Fairfax, VA. Mom loved children, teaching 4th Grade, her flowers, art classes, trips with Dad and People's Life Insurance folks and sharing good meals with family and friends. Her generosity spread to those in need as in later years she drove for FISH. She valued her time with the Catholic Daughters while in Frederick and with the Daughters of the American Revolution in recent years. Even with failing eyesight, she loved writing to family and friends and the children each week and talking on the phone.
Her faith was her strength and as she aged and was unable to drive, travel and enjoy the world as before, she found prayer and Eucharist an important part of her daily blessing.
Connie is survived by her children, Mary Louise Chesley-Cora, Hockessin, DE; Daniel S. Chesley (Kristin), Arnold, MD; James C. Chesley ( Jennifer), Clifton, VA; R. Buckey Chesley, Arlington, VA; her sister, Ida Lutz Brown, Frederick, MD; 5 grandchildren, Kimberly Brown (Gary), Daniel Chesley V (Elizabeth), Robyn Chesley, Karen Tengwall (Matthew) and William Chesley (Sheri); 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Sprigg and her sisters Eleanor Bledsoe, Elizabeth Rhodes and Myrna Clark.
Special thanks to Teresa Durham, Jan Hill, Paisan Leumvittayakul (Lenk) and Dennis Monroe for their care and support of Mom these past years and for her care persons in recent months.
Visitation will be at 10 AM at St. Ann's Parish in Arlington followed by Mass of Resurrection at 11 AM at St. Ann's Church in Arlington, VA on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. Burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers, please give to a charity of your choice in her memory.
