Born in Washington DC on March 11, 1964, he went to Beauvoir Elementary School, Annunciation Middle School and graduated from St Andrews High School. He went on to attend West Virginia Wesleyan and UDC and then spent several years working in upscale establishments such as Garfinkle’s, Tiffany and Co, and the Ritz Carlton. But Creighton was always an entrepreneurial spirit and owned several businesses, spending most of his years as a successful home improvement contractor with his company, Creighton’s.
His artistic talent was expressed through sculpture. His “weldables” collection used industrial items like rebar, go-cart fly-wheels, metal chain and giant springs to create whimsical creatures and abstract sculptures.
He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly water sports, and was an avid Kayaker and swimmer. He loved being on the Potomac or at the beach. Bicycling on the Capital Crescent Trail was another favorite pastime.
Creighton loved wildlife, particularly birds. Tumi, his Conure, was a constant companion for the past 11 years; they were inseparable.
He passed away at home in Arlington on May 26. Creighton is survived by his father Edward Mark of Arlington and sister Valerie Mark (Michael Ryan) of Atlanta, GA. A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to St Andrews High School or the Humane Society. Please feel free to leave any memories of Creighton for all to enjoy.
