Doris M. Ernest

APRIL 27, 1918 – JUNE 13, 2012

On Wednesday, June 13, 2012, Doris M. Ernest, 94, beloved wife of the late Harvey F. Ernest, Sr. passed away peacefully in her sleep from complications following a fall a month ago. Mrs. Ernest was born on April 27, 1918 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She graduated from Russell Sage College with a BS in Business Administration in 1939. She moved to Arlington, Virginia, upon her marriage to Mr. Harvey F. Ernest, Sr. in 1941, where they resided.

During her years of being an Arlington resident she was a volunteer and supporter of many Civic Organizations, including the Women’s Board of Providence Hospital; The Arlington Women’s Committee of the National Symphony Orchestra; the First Friday Club of Missionhurst and the Arlington Neighbors Club. She and her husband, Harvey, were Founding Members of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia.

She is survived by her devoted son, Harvey F. Ernest, Jr., his wife Pamela Ernest and her grandson, Ryan H. Ernest.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 17th at Murphy Funeral Homes, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22203 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1914 North Randolph Street, Arlington, VA 22207. Interment at Arlington Cemetery will be held at a later date.
