

Edna Elizabeth Barton passed away peacefully on Sept. 2, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Beloved wife of the late James H. Barton. Born in New Orleans, LA on Sept. 1, 1937, she graduated from Fortier High School and attended Tulane University. She moved to northern VA with her husband in 1990. She spent most of her professional career in banking and accounting and retired from The International Association of Chiefs of Police a few years ago.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Peter Joseph (PJ) Laris, and her brother, Ernest Laris. Left to cherish the memories are her daughters Debbie Mattes of Monroe, MI and Lisa Raspino (Andrew) of Mandeville, LA. Edna is also survived by her seven grandchildren and four great-grandsons.
Edna's daughters wish to express their appreciation to Kim Bryan, for her years of laughter and friendship. Special thanks to the wonderful people at The Fountains at Washington House and Capital Caring Hospice for taking such great care of Edna and to Edna's longtime physicians, Dr. Ashok Chauhan, Dr. Jeevindra (Jay)Rana and Dr. M. Rafiq Zaheer.
Edna loved her friends and family, professional football, a good sale and happy hour. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you celebrate Edna's life by raising a glass or sharing a meal with a friend.
Edna Barton will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00 am in a brief graveside ceremony at the columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery. Friends and colleagues are invited. (Court 3, Section E, Column 7, Niche 3)
