Ernie was a life-long resident of Arlington, Virginia and attended Washington Lee High School. He attended Syracuse University and graduated from American University.
He served in the U.S. Army, the Arlington County Sherriff’s department, the U.S. Department of State, and Interpol Washington.
He had many passions in life but two of his favorites were music and his commitment to public service. Ernie was proficient in many instruments to include the accordion, tuba, alp horn, and piano, but the upright string bass was his instrument of choice. Most weekends and holidays would find Ernie sharing his music in and around the Washington area.
As part of his public service Ernie was a volunteer firefighter at Station 4 Arlington County where he also served as Fire Chief for over 20 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Kemper Macon Ware, No. 64, Elks Lodge of Northern Neck No. 2666, American Legion Post No. 85, and FOP NOVA 35, to name a few, where he served in many capacities over the years.
Ernie leaves behind a wide spectrum of dear friends he made along his life-long adventures.
