Eugenia L Sanford

Eugenia Sanford, 82, of Arlington, VA, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Alexandria Hospital. Gene was born on December 7, 1930, in Orange County, VA at Woodley Farm. She is survived by siblings Richard Sanford and Harriet Prigg. Gene was preceded in death by her parents, Harry E. Sanford and Mary Lewis Sanford, her siblings, Josephine Perry, Walker Sanford, Nancy Cantrell, Thomas Sanford, Samuel Sanford, Lucy Sanford, Ellie Foster, Ben Sanford, and Sabrena Hinkle.

Gene graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Richmond Professional Institute. She taught French in Fairfax County Schools for many years, retiring in 1984. A long-time member of Arlington Presbyterian Church, Gene served as both a deacon and an elder.

Gene was known to friends, and especially her family, as generous, sacrificial, often putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She will be greatly missed by all.
