He is survived by his wife, Grace; his three children; “My Boy” Jon, his daughter Jessie Emily and her two children, his grandsons, Wylie and Amun, and his daughter Chrissy her husband Josh and their two children, his granddaughters, Thira and Coren.
He is also survived by his sister Mary, his brother Steve and wife Helena, his brother Dave and wife Trish, as well as a myriad of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Christine and brother-in-law George.
At 6’6” George was usually the tallest person in the room. In his opinion he was also the smartest person in the room but being a member of Mensa didn’t automatically make that so.
Despite being a linear thinker he wasn’t good friends with computers and after 20 years his cell phone was still a mystery to him.
But ah! When it came to music… For years he had a little side gig as a party DJ and boy could he keep the dance floor crowded. Need to know who recorded a song? Ask George. He could even tell you where it charted on the Billboard Top 100.
George was a quiet man, a private man, not given to displays of emotions. But they were there – deeply there.
George’ favorite artist was Leonard Cohen, his favorite song, “Bird on the Wire”. As the song says, “Like a bird on the wire, Like a drunk in a midnight choir, I have tried in my way to be free.”
And now he is.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please send contributions to your favored animal rescue, in George's memory.
