

Grace Marie Laughlin, age 70 a resident of Huddleston, Virginia passed away on August 3, 2013. She was born in New York City on July 19, 1943. She grew up on Long Island. Her family was large and made up of many uncles, aunts and cousins. Her father Lou Argento, 93, is a Navy World War II veteran who was present on the Big Mo for the signing of the Japanese surrender. He worked in the Aerospace Industry and the NASA Shuttle program. Her mother, Ann Compagna Argento, deceased, was a talented dress maker. Grace and her husband Doug Laughlin, an advertising executive, married on September 6, 1964 and would have been married for 49 years this September. He was in U.S. Army from 1966 thru 1969 which took Grace to numerous military bases both in the States and Europe. Doug's advertising career took them to Cleveland, Ohio; Syracuse, New York; Sparta, New Jersey and then finally Arlington Virginia.
Grace was artistic and interested in Theatre and Arts. She was a member of an award winning High School Band. She graduated from Kent State University with degrees in Education and Library Science. She specialized in Speech and Drama. While in Sparta, NJ, she taught at Sparta High School where she produced and directed the school's annual plays. In 1995, she was instrumental in the founding of LMO Advertising, a full service advertising agency in Arlington, Virginia. Grace enjoyed, travel, painting, collectables, home design, sewing and knitting. She is survived by husband, Doug Laughlin; father, Lou Argento; sons, Scott (Jennifer) Laughlin and Christopher (Karen) Laughlin; seven grandchildren, Evan, Mitch, Josey, Deg, Ty, Sadie and Bridgette. Sisters are Louann, Alice and Marie. Predeceased by brother, Joe, who passed away from ALS. Memorial Service is Monday, August 12, 2013 at 1:00pm at Murphy Arlington Chapel 4510 Wilson Blvd. Arlington, Virginia, 703-920-4800.
