Hung Quoc Phung

Hung Quoc Phung was born on November 30, 1961, in Tam Kỳ, Vietnam. He passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, surrounded by close family in Virginia. He was the youngest child of Du Thai Phung and Ngoc Ba Truong.

Hung Quoc Phung is survived by his two sons, Alan and John, and his siblings, Dung Du Phung, Anh Nguyet Phung, and Hoa Nguyet Phung.

Hung Quoc Phung lived a virtuous and selfless life. He always cared and thought about others before himself and tried to make others happy no matter where he went. Hung truly looked after all the people in his life and helped those around him as much as he could. Those who remember Hung will remember him for the kindness and thoughtfulness he showed everybody as well as the joy he brought into people's lives.

Hung Quoc Phung grew up in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He and his family moved to Ho Chi Minh City sometime during his childhood. He spent the majority of his early life there before leaving behind everything he had ever known to escape war and poverty, seeking a better life and more opportunities in the United States.

Hung worked various jobs before starting work at St. Regis Hotel in Washington D.C in November 1981. He worked there for 44 years until his passing. During his long tenure with the company, he accumulated a vast number of accolades and awards and was lauded repeatedly by his coworkers as somebody that continuously exhibited genuine kindness and heart. One of the awards Hung won was the prestigious Astor Award, given only to exceptional employees at St. Regis who demonstrate extraordinary character, outstanding service, and continued excellence.

During his free time, Hung enjoyed watching television, theatrical shows, and orchestral performances when given the opportunity. Hung was also a devout Buddhist, and spent over thirty years volunteering at Chùa Giác Hoàng Temple located in Washington D.C. However, the highest priority in his life was family. He recognized the importance of family and greatly enjoyed spending time with them, even if the activities were simple or mundane.

Hung left a lasting impact on many lives during his time on Earth. He will be greatly missed and remembered in the hearts of all who knew him and those who will remember his legacy.
