She was born in Hilversum, Holland but lived most of her childhood in Heidelberg, Germany during WWII. She came to the United States as an au pair in 1956 where she met Franco Ercolano at a German dance in Washington DC. They married in 1958 and were together for nearly 62 years building an extraordinary life most all of it in Arlington, VA. She devotedly took care of our dad in his later years until he passed away in June 2020.
Inge worked for GEICO starting as a keypunch operator, becoming a data center supervisor, and eventually getting trained in the new computer programming field in the late 1970s. After 36 years she retired from GEICO as a computer programmer-librarian. Mom loved to dance and was especially dedicated to maintaining an active lifestyle. She loved her aerobics classes, walking, swimming and even played soccer in the early years of the Arlington Women’s Soccer Association. Together our parents were a founding force behind the Arlington Soccer Association all through the 1970s and early 1980s.
She loved traveling, reading, and beach vacations. But most of all, she loved her family and friends. She worked hard to support her family both here and back in Germany and was especially proud of her only grandson, Marcus. She was predeceased by her parents Albina and Georg Naegele and younger siblings Winfried Naegele and Heidi Junker who lived their lives in Germany.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Friday June 30 at 11am, St. Ann’s Catholic Church Arlington, VA. Reception following.
