

Izora Holmes was a loving wife to MSG William Holmes and mother to Billi and Darian. Izora was born and raised in south Philadelphia in 1959 to Thelma Fagan and Jerome Taylor, with a younger brother Gary.
Izora was a professional violinist who started her music education at the University of West Virginia and later earned a Bachelor's degree at Temple University. While at Temple, she studied under violinists from the Philadelphia Orchestra.
She taught violin to many students at Foxes Music and the Fillmore Arts Center in D.C. Her passion for music helped various students become professionals.
Izora was a member of the Alexandria Symphony as the Principal Second violinist and participated in various DC-area string quartets. Izora performed with Barry White and also contributed to a grammy-winning record by Steel Pulse.
Izora was a person who always put others before herself, even in the worst of times during her battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was a huge fan of British TV series, thriller novels, and creating visual art.
A memorial service for Izora will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22203.
