
On March 24, 2015, in Arlington, VA, beloved father, father-in-law, and grandfather. His dear wife Evelyn, and brothers and sisters, Sam, Mike, Millie, Eva, and Mary predeceased him. He is survived by his son, Mark; daughter-in-law, Dede; grandson, Stephen; and granddaughter, Virginia. Joseph served with distinction in WWII in the Detached Enlisted Men's Service of the US Army. He was a long-time resident and well-respected, and much-loved, public school teacher, counselor, associate principal, and principal in the Arlington Public Schools; and an accomplished poet. He was a strong and gentle person and will be missed. Joe's family will receive extended family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors on Thursday, March 26, at Murphy Funeral Home of Arlington, 4510 Wilson Blvd., from 2 to 4 p.m. Services will be held at St. Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church, 3149 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church, VA 22015, on Friday, March 27, at 10 a.m. The burial is private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests to send contributions to AFAC (Arlington Food Assistance Center) or Doorways for Women and Families.
