Josephine grew up in Taiwan and came to the U.S. to study at Texas Woman’s University. She worked as a children’s librarian in the New York Public Library system. The Lins moved to southeastern Virginia in 1969, where she devoted much of her time to raising her sons Kenneth and Albert. Josephine later worked as a day care teacher at the Country Day School in Chesapeake, where her co-workers and kids affectionately referred to her as “Miss Jo.” Josephine was unfailingly kind and modest. She had a sweet, friendly, and outgoing demeanor that charmed whomever she met. She enjoyed cooking, pressing dried flowers, having a good laugh, and indulging her sweet tooth. Josephine was a faithful and firm believer in Christ and constantly reminded those around her to be grateful for one’s blessings, both great and small.
