Murphy Funeral Homes
On Thursday, April 25th, 2024, Marcial Dieguez Martinez of Arlington, Virginia, and originally from Santiago, Chile, went to be with the Lord at the age of 83. He passed suddenly next to his wife of 57 years, Dinelis Acuña Bertulini, as they took a nap together. His passing was due to cardiac arrest and heart failure and was completely unexpected, leaving a tremendous void in his family.
Marcial was born on January 15, 1941, in Santiago, Chile, to Eulalia Manuela Martinez and Jose Dieguez Dieguez. He married the love of his life, Dinelis, on June 30th, 1967, in Santiago, Chile. This was followed by the birth of his first son, Marcial Dieguez Acuña, on July 19, 1968, and then the birth of their second son, Francisco Dieguez Acuña. Marcial and Dinelis mourned the loss of two more children, Juan Dieguez Acuna in 1970, and Solange Dieguez Acuna in 1974, who both died days after birth.
Marcial was a serial entrepreneur, developing dozens of business projects since the age of 15. He worked for the American company RCA, where he perfected his English, eventually leading him to immigrate to the United States. He was an obsessive tinkerer, always having a desk full of tools, magnifying glasses, batteries, chargers, and cables. He loved to figure out how everything works. He was blessed to have built a company along with his brothers (Disal SA), in his native Chile, which eventually employed thousands of people and had operations in several South American countries. He was always proud of the people he employed and was a constant teacher to all who crossed his path.
He was passionate about soccer, growing up playing the game with his older brother Jose on several teams and bringing that love of the game to the States in the early 70s, where he played for his club “Deportivo Chile”. He spent many weekends on or the sideline of the pitch or accompanying his sons to their games.
Thanks to the support of his wife, Marcial came closer to our Lord Jesus and became an active and practicing Christian during the last 5 years of his life. He attended Iglesia Alianza y Misionera Peñalolen in Chile and Westover Baptist in Arlington. Marcial died suddenly but with a tremendous legacy and a full life, knowing that God has received him into his kingdom.
Marcial is survived by his wife, Dinelis Acuña Bertulini, his sons Marcial Dieguez Acuna and Francisco Dieguez Acuna, his daughters-in-law Catherine Fuentes Ramirez and Kathleen Martin, his grandchildren, Jonah Dieguez, Maraya Dieguez, Daniel Dieguez, Isaac Dieguez, Matias Dieguez, Eli Dieguez, Lucas Dieguez, Felipe Dieguez, Levi Dieguez,
Ava Dieguez, and Simon Dieguez, his sisters Carmen Dieguez and Maria Cristina Dieguez, and brothers Raul, Alfonso, and Victor Manuel, and many nephews and nieces.
