

Margaret Simmons Dozier, 99, of Arlington, VA passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2024. She was born on February 6, 1924 in Washington, DC to John Robert and Helen B. (nee La Fontaine) Simmons.
In her younger years, Margaret attended Nellie Custis Elementary School, Thomas Jefferson Junior High School, Washington & Lee High School, and earned her Associates Degree from James Madison University. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Boyd Dozier on March 15, 1947.
Margaret was a member of Walker Chapel United Methodist Church for over 70 years, raised her family there, and was actively involved in its many ministries and activities up until about 15 years ago. She was also a long-time member of and actively involved in the John Lyon VFW Post 3150 in Arlington.
Margaret is predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert; her son, Jim (Anna) Dozier; her daughter, Joyce (Skip) Ruttkay; and her grandson, Michael Dozier. She is survived by her son, John “Pat” (Mary Jane) Dozier; her granddaughter, Melissa Dozier; her grandsons, Sharkey (Megan) Dozier, Kyle (Rachel) Ruttkay, and Jeremy Ruttkay along with her great-grandson, Mason Ruttkay. She also leaves behind her special friend and loving caretaker, Sadia Muhiddin.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1st from 6:00-8:00 PM at Murphy Funeral Home, located at 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203. A funeral service will take place the next day on Friday, February 2nd at 11:00 AM at Murphy Funeral Home, with burial immediately following at National Memorial Park, located at 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042.
