

Died peacefully in her sleep at home in McLean, VA after years of great suffering on Saturday, September 15, 2012. Liz was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 27, 1953. The family later moved to McLean, where she attended St. John Catholic School and Bishop O'Connell High School. She earned her B.A. degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. She remained in Norfolk after graduation and eventually established a "green' business, i.e. New Century, Inc. and Rich Earth. She was always helping others and her business reflected her concern not only for her fellow man but for the planet. She is survived by her father, Wallace Witkowski of Michigan, her mother and step-father Mary and Robert Flanagan of McLean, VA; her brother Matt and sister-in-law Jane; two step-sisters, Krysia and Halusia; nephew Jesse Witkowski and Ethan Branum; niece Avery; aunt Margaret Witkowski and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as many friends. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. A gathering will be held on Friday, September 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA. A Mass will be offered on Saturday September 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Beloved, 6420 Linway Terrace, McLean, VA 22101. Interment in Carsonville, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Capital Caring or Friends of John Paul II Foundation, 1721 Forest Lane, McLean, VA 22101-3323.
