Nora was born on April 6, 1934, in Moron Camaguey, Cuba. She was the daughter of the late Jose and Emma Limia. She immigrated to the United States in 1956 where she made her home in Washington, D.C. She loved this country which gave her the opportunity to proudly and happily raise her two daughters. She made frequent trips to Cuba to see her dear parents and brother whom she dedicatedly took care of.
Nora was a life-long devout Catholic. She was a communicant of St Agnes Catholic Church where she was an active member of the Prayer Group, La Luz de Jesus for 50 years. She loved to pray the Holy Rosary daily and watched the daily mass on EWTN Catholic television.
She worked in the beauty industry as a manicurist at the Helena Rubinstein Salon, Elizabeth Arden Salon, and the Eivind and Hans of Georgetown Salon. Nora loved her job because she loved her clients so much – some of which she knew for 30, 40 and 50 plus years. She shared many joys and sorrows with them, all the while keeping them in her prayers.
Above all, what gave her the most joy, was the beautiful large family she was blessed with. She relished every moment she spent with them.
Nora’s memories will live on through her two daughters Lelis M. and her husband Mark R. Pond of Chesapeake, VA and Norys S. Schmitt of Loudoun, VA; nine grandchildren Kellie and her fiancé John Sherman, Terri and Scott Murray, Brad and Amanda Pond, Ryan and Tammy Pond, Scot and Amber Pond, Eryn and Tim Fuhr, Erika and Leo Woodward, Richard Schmitt, Michael and Ellen Schmitt; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Nora is survived by her dear brother Jose Santiago Limia Guerrero.
