Patricia A. Bye (Pat) of McLean, Virginia passed away on May 5, 2024 at the age of 92. Pat was born Patricia A. Clark on January 25, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the daughter of Paul E. Clark, Sr. and Mary Augusta Appleby. Older sister to Mary (Clark) Greco, Eileen (Clark) Largey and Paul Clark. Beloved wife of 68 years to Robert H. Bye and dedicated mother to Michael H. Bye of Fairfax, Virginia (Karen Bye), Kathleen A. Bartnick of Potomac Falls, Virginia (Thomas Bartnick) and Virginia A. Miller of Ashburn, Virginia. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, 1 son-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law and several nieces and nephews and their children. Pat had a long career working at the Defense Intelligence Agency, U.S. Army Security Agency, Commission on the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution, The White House, The Department of State, Blair House and volunteering on many political campaigns. Travels in connection with Presidential Summits and the State Department included United Kingdom, France, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Brazil, Columbia, Costa Rica, and Africa in 1985. Pat was a member of many organizations including The Japan-America Society, The Japanese-American Rover Ski Club, Hokkaido Association of Teachers of Dancing and the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. Pat was the first American woman skier to have accomplished the climb and descent of the 2,077 meters high Mt. Tokachi-one of the only active volcanoes on the Island of Hokkaido, Japan. Pat will be greatly missed by family, friends and neighbors. A visitation will be held on Saturday May 18th at Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington, Virginia from 1pm - 3pm.
