

Phillip M. Reiss of Arlington, Va. passed away on Saturday December 5, 2020. He was born on June 30, 1961 in Washington, D.C. He attended St. Agnes School, graduated from Bishop O’Connell High School and received an associate’s degree from Prince George’s Community College. A man of many talents, Phillip was a blacksmith, daycare provider, retail manager, campaign operative and long-time purveyor of tobacco on the Sabbath. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight of the Edward Douglass White Council in Arlington.
A dedicated and loving father, Phillip volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, chaperoned numerous class trips, and ensured that his children knew the beauty of Nature and the importance of kindness. He loved sharing a good meal with friends, celebrating holidays with family, and spending time on the porch with a good book and a whiskey neat. He was an all-around stand-up guy who left an indelible mark on all he met. His booming laugh, ready hand and generous spirit will be missed.
He was predeceased by his mother Bernadette N. Reiss. He is survived by his daughter Kristen Reiss, son Phillip J. Reiss (Kelly), grandchildren Nolan and Alice as well as his father, Phillip K. Reiss, his sister Susan (Paul Roney), niece and nephew Colleen and Patrick Roney. Due to COVID-19, services and burial are private but will be streamed.
