

Phyllis Mulcahy passed away March 10th, 2017 at the Inova Alexandria Hospital after a long illness bravely fought. She was 81 years old and a long time resident of Arlington, Virginia. She was born in Manchester, England to John and Phyllis Bailey. The second of two sisters. She was preceded in death by her late husband Gordon Gregory Mulcahy retired from the US Air Force. She spent her working life at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from 1963 to her retirement in 1998. She is survived by her older sister Jean Cooper of Poulton-le-Fylde England and her nephew Philip and niece Jennifer. Their children Jack and Phoebe, Simon, Jonathan and Caroline and sister-in-law Gina. A much loved sister, aunt and great aunt with many friends and neighbors who loved her. She will always be remembered for her love of reading, family and women's issues. She gave incredible support to all who knew her and she leaves a gap in all her friends and families hearts. She will never be forgotten by her family and friends.The family would like to thank the nurses at Inova Alexandria Hospital, Dr. Tahira and Dr. Peter Hamm for their excellent care. Also her dear friend Hugh Wade for his kindness and her friends Ann, Carol, Joyce and Sandy and her neighbor Matt and Cindy Zolla for their endless support, meals and love.
Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at 2pm. Family and friends are to gather at the Administration Building at 1:15pm. There will refreshments following the services at FT. Myer Officers Club; Patton Hall the Abrams Room.
