

Rayma Julienne (Jay) Annala Miles, 90, a resident of Fairfax County, VA, for the past 57 years, passed away of natural causes on August 23, 2018, at Sunrise of Arlington, VA, where she resided for the past five years.
Rayma was born in Wyoming in 1928 and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1950. She and her husband, Dudley Dale Miles, lived in Rawlins, WY, prior to moving to Fairfax County in 1961.
Rayma taught physical education in Fairfax County elementary schools for 16 years. She was an active volunteer for the Democratic Party, mostly at the state and local level. She also was a volunteer for her church and for local food banks.
Rayma is survived by her daughter, Julie Ann Miles and Julie's husband, Dennis Moore, her son, Dudley D. Miles and Dudley's wife Connie Miles, their three children, Daniel Davis, Jackson Rae, and Shelby Lynn Miles. Rayma also is survived by her brothers Ronald and Roy Annala. Rayma's husband, Dudley Miles, passed away in 1977; her son, Daniel Miles, passed away in 1978. Rayma was predeceased by her brothers, Howard, Ernest, Virgil, Ollie and Carl Annala, and by her sisters, Shirley Sears and Marie Coffman. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, 8617 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA. at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Neil Hough officiating. Those attending the funeral service are encouraged to wear blue in honor of Rayma's Finnish heritage. Burial will be private. Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington, Virginia is honored to serve the Miles family.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donating to a community food bank.
