

Born in Ashland, PA, Ruth moved to Virginia in 1948, settling in Arlington, where she met the love of her life, Jay, to whom she was married for 39 years.
A retired federal employee with 30 years of service, she worked for the Department of the Navy Bureau of Personnel's Training Division in Arlington.
Ruth was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and a long-time season ticket holder. She enjoyed traveling, visiting destinations, including Alaska, Aruba, the Caribbean, England, New Zealand, Russia, Scotland, and Wales. Other interests included socializing with the ladies in her bridge club, enjoying bingo anywhere, anytime, attending the Washington Opera, and her enthusiastic involvement with the many activities of the Casey Women's Club.
She served as treasurer of the Women's Organization of Northern Virginia for 20 years.
Ruth was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren, and frequently enjoyed watching them participate in their sports activities.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Vincent, Jack, Bill and Warren. Survivors include sons Jack and Randy (Donna); grandchildren Danny, Kelly (Bright) Nwosu, and Nick; great granddaughters Heaven, Rayne and Summer; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday March 24, 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Murphy Funeral Home, Arlington VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 25 at 12 Noon at St. Ann Church, Arlington, VA.
