

SSG Sabrina Kay Gustaitis Martinez, 33 died on Saturday, August 27 in Lakewood, WA. Sabrina was born in El Paso, TX on April 18, 1983. She graduated from Franklin High School in El Paso, TX and earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix. She was pursuing her Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology.
Sabrina entered into the U.S. Army in September, 2008. She completed Basic Combat training and 27D Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, SC. She attended the Court Reporter Course in Charlottesville, VA from January to March 2009.
Sabrina served in a variety of duty positions to include: Court Reporter/NCOIC, Trial Defense Services, 8th Army, Yongsan, Korea: Court Reporter/NCOIC, Post-Trial, CASCOM, Fort Lee, VA: and Court Reporter/Senior Court Report/NCOIC, Post-Trial/Assistant Clerk of Court HHB, I Corps, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.
Sabrina’s awards and decorations include the 2010 - 8th Army Soldier of the Year Award, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1, OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Good Conduct Medal (2nd award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Ribbon.
Sabrina is survived by her parents: Jerome and Felicia Gustaitis of Anacortes, WA; her daughter, Brookelyn Martinez of Colonial Heights, VA, her sister: Sunshine Gustaitis (Miguel) Castro of El Paso, TX; her brother: Dustin Gustaitis of Los Angeles, CA; her nephew: Daniel Mendez and her niece: Selena Mendez both of El Paso, TX.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6th at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203. Funeral Services will be held at Old Post Chapel, Fort Myer, VA, on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Arlington National Cemetery.
