Stephanie was born on June 9, 1987 to parents Timothy and Jessica Strother, in Fairfax, VV and grew up in Burke, VA. She was born with special needs.
She was named after Steffi Graf the famous German tennis player, who won big tennis matches all over the world at the time. With lots of love and special care, Steph blossomed into a happy and healthy little girl. She had a Dalmation dog “Sparky” around her at a young age.
Stephanie greatly benefited from the Fairfax County, VA Public School system, SACC program, and the County’s Community Services Board disabilities services program. She continued to blossom in the St. Coletta Day Adult Program in Alexandria. All these programs and services were instrumental in helping her to expand her life.
She enjoyed visiting with family in West Virginia, and Arlington, VA, and took trips to the local beaches and went hiking with her parents in a papoose. Later, with her Mother and friends, she enjoyed many trips to beautiful state, local parks and cabins in the region. She was a regular at the rock and roll dances in the Therapeutic Recreation Program of Fairfax County, Virginia. She loved to watch tennis.
Stephanie will be remembered for her grand smile, and determination to take on life.
Her parents plan to pursue advocacy in connection with ovarian cancer.
