Briggs Ekrem

Briggs Zahl Ekrem, 78 years old, of Mount Vernon, Washington passed away on September 19th 2024. Briggs passed after his 3rd fight with Pneumonia within 1 year. He battled Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's Disease.

Briggs Ekrem was born on July 16, 1946 to Lucille and Harvey Ekrem in Newport News, Virginia. Briggs moved all over the country and world due to his father serving as a pilot in the AirForce. After Briggs graduated from high school he had a number of jobs, one being a Manager of the Chuck Wagon in Mount Vernon, WA. He later became infatuated with landing a career in the telephone communications industry. After working for the man for too many years, Briggs decided to start his own Company on or around age 39, which was named Commtract Inc. He later specialized in computer network system and installed back bone wiring, up and down the west coast. Towards the middle of his career, he was awarded contracts for the hospitals and medical centers in Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley, which allowed him to stay local and enjoy his life to the fullest.

Services will be held at Weller’s Funeral Home in Arlington, WA on September 28, 2024 at 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. for viewing. Then 1p.m. to 2p.m. for services and slide show. Then viewing and last good byes 2pm-2:30 p.m. we will all proceed to the Arlington municipal cemetery for the grave yard burial ceremony which will start about 3pm. Please bring your own person fold out camping chairs as they only provide 12 chairs at the burial. After the burial we will all commence for a celebration of life party at the American Legion in Arlington, WA. Briggs’s favorite wine, beer, and pizza from Coconut Kenny’s will be served at no cost to all. Black Russian Cocktails will be served at a discount. Cut flowers are ok, but the family requests perennial flowers, plants or trees that will be planted in his honor and remembrance. If donating is preferred, donations can be made to the American Legion in Arlington, WA, in cash or check form. God bless everyone.
