Born and raised in Sultan, Connie graduated from Sultan High School in 1960. The following year, she married the love of her life, Keane Enberg, beginning a partnership that would span 64 years. Connie was the daughter of Phyllis Broughton Bernethy and Ken Dunlap, and step daughter of George Bernethy, all of whom preceded her in death.
Connie and Keane settled in Everett, where they raised their three children—Diane (Pete), Jon, and Jeff (Krissy)—and built a home filled with warmth, humor, and love.
She took great joy in her grandchildren—Kaitlyn (Craig), Nick (Lauren), Taylor (David), Emily (Jake), and Ivy—and embraced her great grandchildren, Carson, Brynn, and Lenni, with the same pride and tenderness. She held her brothers, Dick (Linda) and Ray (Lynn), close in her heart always.
Connie was known for her remarkable intelligence, competitive spirit, and generous heart. She filled her home with laughter and the food she lovingly made. She found peace in her garden and in caring for the hummingbirds that visited. And every furry friend seemed to know about her dog bone stash.
She will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and the quiet strength that shaped our lives. Her memory will continue to bloom in every garden she inspired and in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be held this spring, with details to be shared at a later date.
