Donald Eaton Knowles

Donald Eaton Knowles, 81, passed away May 1, 2015 in Seattle, WA. He was born September 26, 1933 in Darrington, WA and lived in the area all of his life. Don graduated from Darrington High School in 1951 and was then drafted into the Army in 1953. Following his service in the Army, Don started work in the timber industry and continued employment in the logging industry all of his life. Don was a partner in R&K Logging until 1971. He then went to work for G&D Logging/Summit Timber until he retired in 2002. During retirement he enjoyed playing horse shoes, reading, fishing, watching all types of sports and cutting firewood, but most of all his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Don was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Ione Knowles and sister Jackie Swilling. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Betty Knowles; son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Laura Knowles of Darrington; daughter and son-in-law Laresa and Ryan Boyd of Arlington; grandchildren Cassidy, Natalie, Brian, Alexis, Misty, Amanda and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Wednesday and Thursday, May 13 and 14, 2015, Noon-5 p.m. at Weller Funeral Home, 327 N. MacLeod Ave., Arlington. A Grave Side service will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday May 30th at the Darrington Cemetery, with a dinner following at the Darrington Community Center.
