At the age of 103 Larry flew on angel wings to greet those who have gone before him. It was his wish to live in his home (that he resided in for 33 years) until the end of his earthly life, he had a village that made that wish come true.
Larry was a Dancer, Trumpet player, WWll Vet, Friend, Son, Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Cousin
Larry was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Attending Alpine Elementary, Virgil Jr High and Belmont HS graduating in 1939. In High School Larry said the girls liked him, yet he was shy and ran away from them.
Larry worked in the LA garment district, a job he said he truly enjoyed. He worked at various jobs including for NASA and a guard at the Monroe Prison. Larry also resided in Glendale and Victorville, CA, Marysville and Arlington WA.
Larry played the trumpet, even in a couple of Big Bands. He loved to dance and was blessed to have danced with Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly and Marilyn Monroe. He continued his dancing into his 90’s at USO dances, with friends at the Senior Centers and the Oxford in Snohomish.
Larry was in the Army September 1942 thru March 1944
Larry was preceded in death by his mom Petra Martinez, dad Aurelio Negrette, brothers Adolfo and Frank, sister Mary. Also, by his wife Carol and son Bill. Larry talked about them often, saying how lucky he was to have such a wonderful wife and son-he spoke fondly of them and missed them every day.
Larry is survived by nephews, nieces, cousins and his “Village”: old friends, new friends, dancers, church family-who surrounded him with love and care.
As the poem The Dash by Linda Ellis says: What mattered most of all was the dash between those years… Live your life well, treat others with respect, love fully as those are the important things in life.
