

She was born to Esther Moree (Hawn) Warren born in Lodge, MO. on April 9th, 1903 and Elijah Warren, born in Jacksonport, Arkansas in 1896. Later moved to Mill Creek, MO. where she grew up. As a young girl she was selected President of the Young Women's Auxillary, a Baptist Foundation Bldg.
She was elected to the National Beta Club for Outstanding Character and Achievement and received her award of Honor on January 8th, 1948 at Fredericktown High School where she graduated in Fredericktown, MO.
She attended South East Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau, MO. where she earned her Degree of Bachelor of Science in Education and graduated August 14th, 1958.
She became a member for life of the Missouri State Teachers Assoc. Columbia, MO. on Oct. 1st, 1961.
She attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. where she earned her Degree of Master of Education and graduated on Aug. 7th, 1964.
She was chosen by the American Legion Auxiliary as their representative to Girls State at William Woods College in Fulton, MO. in 1974. She entered the Americanism Contest sponsored by the American Legion Auxillary in 1975 and came in third.
Dorothy resided in Imperial, MO. and was a 1st grade teacher and taught at Fox-6 school district at Antonia Elementary School in Antonia, MO. where she gave 30 years of devoted service. Through her years of teaching she was always continuing her education and taking classes. She retired from Fox-6 school district in May of 1996. Shortly after her retirement she became a Teacher's Aide for Antonia Head Start for several years.
She became a member of Jefferson Heights Baptist Church in Imperial, MO. in 1955, and became actively involved in the church. She gave of her time and talents freely. She taught Sunday School, Training Union, planned many activities for the youth, and took the youth to meetings and trips away from her church. She also helped and planned Sweet Heart Banquets at the church with the help of others. Dorothy was always wanting to learn how to do things, and attended those kind of meetings. Later she taught the Children's dept. and moved to the Adult dept. Many of the youth she worked with became Summer Missionaries, Preachers, Preacher's Wives, as well as others who became involved in the Churches where they resided.
On Aug. 18th, 1985 she received her certificate of recognition for her Charter Membership of 30 years of faithful service at Jefferson Heights Baptist Church. On July 28th, 1996, the church honored her with Dorothy Warren Appreciation Day. She attended there until 2002 at which time she resided at the Fountains Assisted Living and the Granite City Nursing and Rehab in Granite City, IL. While there she attended Calvary Baptist Church in Granite City, IL. She tithed both churches.
She entered Alhambra Care Center on Feb. 23rd, 2005, and resided there until the Lord called her home.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother Glen Lloyd, one brother and sister-in-law; James David Warren and wife Shirley Jean (Williams) Warren on Glendale, AZ., one brother Earl Lindell Warren of Madison, IL., one nephew who was still-born - Venice, IL., one niece Ramona Denise (Warren) Gregorio of Arizona City, AZ., one nephew Clay Anthony Warren of Glendale, AZ., and one great-great nephew who died in infancy of AZ.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Glenda Berneice Warren of Florissant, MO., and Opal Naomi Fergerson of St. Louis, MO., 14 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews and 18 great-great nieces and nephews.
