Muriel Manila Mitchell was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in 1915. She grew up at the shore spending happy days with her three older sisters: Bertie, Hazel, and Edith. Muriel graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1933. Muriel married Robert T. Booth in 1935 and she and Bob lived in Northfield for many years while raising their family. She was an active member and Deaconess at Chelsea Baptist Church in Atlantic City for over 50 years. Muriel and Bob traveled extensively throughout the USA including Alaska and Hawaii as well as Canada and Bermuda.
Hospitality was one of Muriel’s gifts. Friends, family, visiting missionaries and guests were always made comfortable and fed well in her home. Activities and good times centered on the “church crowd”. Muriel has always been a special blessing to all she knew and loved.
Being a “super mom” (before that term became popular) was Muriel’s forte. Muriel and Bob had two children: Muriel Elizabeth and Robert Charles. Their upbringing was in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
After Bob retired, they sold their New Jersey home and transplanted to Florida where they became closely involved with their grandchildren and great grandchildren; always teaching them by example what it means to be a Christian. After 59 years of marriage Bob went home to be with the Lord.
When the hurricane season of 2004 ravaged central Florida, Muriel was forced to evacuate to Missouri to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She never returned to her Florida home; but went to her heavenly home on August 5, 2010. Her life will remain a testimony to the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ, her Savior.
Muriel’s ongoing family includes: daughter, Muriel Collison of Arnold, MO; son, Bob Booth of Gloucester City, NJ; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
