Mary was born in Ashland on September 23, 1951, to Gaylord and Patricia (Blumenschein) Strine. She attended Saint Edward School through Elementary, graduating from Ashland High School in 1969. Mary graduated from Ashland College in 1973 with a degree in Special Education. Mary worked at Roseland School in Mansfield for several years. After, she worked at Hawkins and Kroger in Ashland until she became a homemaker when she married Michael Lefever July 15, 1977. Since the early 2000s Mary has worked various jobs, including Troth Auctioneering and The Council on Aging.
Mary was an active member of St. Vincent De Paul Society at Saint Edward Church. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters, as a member of XI ALPHA SIGMA sorority.
For those who knew Mary, she was often referred to as "Saint Mary", because she was a giving humble,
and loving person.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Michael Lefever; brother, John Strine; sister, Susan Strine; and father, Gaylord Strine. She is survived by her mother Patricia (Blumenschein) Strine of Ashland; two sons, Matthew (Janette) Lefever of Ashland and Mark (Heather) Lefever of Ashland; two daughters, Megan (Jason) Mailloux of Hayesville and Molly (Tracy) Stephens of Savannah; 16 grandchildren, Haley Lefever, Jase Mailloux, Olivia Mailloux, Bridget Mailloux, Oliver Lefever, Rosalee Lefever, Emelia Lefever, Archer Lefever, Violet Lefever, Kadence Hetsler, Madeline Stephens, Addison Stephens, Isabelle Stephens, Cody Hamilton, Auston Stephens, and Seth Stephens; brother, Patrick (Laurie) Strine of Ashland; sister, Christine (Carl) Miletto of Ashland; brothers, Dan (Rashat) Strine of California and Tom (Nancy) Strine of Arizona; and special friend, Doug Sloan.
The calling hours will be at Wappner Funeral Home-Ashland, 308 Claremont Ave. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial be celebrated with Father Rod Kreidler officiating at Saint Edward Church, 501 Cottage St., Ashland, OH 44805 on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 10:00 am. Mary will be laid to rest in Ashland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to St. Vincent De Paul, Ashland Cancer Society, or a charity of your choosing in memory of Mary.
