Bettie Gary Redding, age 96, died May 4, 2015, after a brief illness. Her membership at Fork Episcopal Church spanned more than 65 years, and she was always pleased to have been associated with the establishment of Hanover County’s first Christmas Mother Project in 1948. An avid gardener, Mrs. Redding was a familiar sight to many as she worked in her yard, something that gave her great pleasure. She is survived by her son Maurice Howland Redding, III; his wife Lucy; grandsons M. Howland Redding, IV and Benjamin Wingfield Redding; granddaughter Grace MacGregor Redding; and four great-grandchildren, Ridge, Riley, RJ, and Monroe.
