Courtland Lee Warfield Jr. passed away quietly at his home in Hanover County Virginia on April 21 2025 at the age of 85. Court was born in Washington DC on October 29th, 1939 and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia with his parents and his adored sister Suzanne Johnson who survives him.
After graduating from Virginia Tech, Court spent his career in Agriculture as an Agronomist. He loved working with Virginia farmers, providing his experience and expertise to identify areas to enhance crop production. As with everywhere in his life, he made many lasting friends.
Court enjoyed a long retirement on his own farm in Hanover County. He could often be seen cantering around the property on his white horse, Pandemonium, cowboy hat on his head. It was during this time that Court was able to indulge in his passion of raising cattle – or more precisely, red angus. He kept his cattle on various pastures around the county allowing him to make many more close friends. His cattle were shown at the Virginia State Fair. This was a very fulfilling time for him.
Court was a lifelong Episcopalian. He was a member of the Church of the Redeemer in Chesterfield where he and his wife, Andrea, were married. When he moved to Hanover, he became a member of Fork Church. Throughout his journey in faith, Court was an active volunteer of Caritas. He spent many weekends with the program and was humbled by the experience.
He cherished time with his children, Carey Lynn Ardush and C. Lee Warfield, III, their spouses and children.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Andrea.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Midlothian, VA; The Fork Church, Doswell, VA; or Caritas.
