Curtis Bateman

Curtis Alan Bateman, 61, of Ashland, departed this world on May 12, 2017. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth M. Alley; his brother, Charles D. Bateman; and his sister, Elaine A. Hill. He was a beloved uncle to Daniel, Kevin, Jesse Jr., and Chelsey; as well as his five great-nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Bateman; and his sister, Marie Bateman Minton. Curtis was employed over four decades in the Fire Protection Supply Industry. His strong work ethic was much-appreciated by several local companies. Curtis enjoyed visiting the Outer Banks and his cherished Jack Russell Terriers. He was a long-time member of Living Word Assembly Church and requested that memorial donations be made to Living Word Assembly Building Fund, P.O. Box 1557, Ashland, Va. 23005. The family would like to offer their deep appreciation to the staff of VCU Massey Cancer Center. A graveside memorial will be held at Signal Hill Memorial Park on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 3 p.m. Arrangements under the direction of Nelsen Ashland, Ashland, VA.
