August 12, 1946 – April 22, 2025
Diane Honeycutt Ager of Richmond, Virginia, passed into the arms of her Savior on April 22, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Alabama on August 12, 1946, Diane lived a life rich in purpose, compassion, and unwavering faith.
A devoted wife to the late William C. Ager, Diane carried his love with her every day of her life. She was preceded in death by him, as well as her beloved parents, but she never walked alone—her faith in the Lord, and her joy in her family, sustained her through every season.
Diane was a registered nurse by profession and a healer by calling. Her care extended far beyond hospital walls—into the community, the church, and the forgotten corners of the world. She volunteered with the Pregnancy Resource Center in Richmond, taught Bible study at the women’s unit of the Richmond City Jail, and served faithfully at CrossOver Healthcare Ministry. Her life was a ministry of presence, grace, and truth.
A longtime member of First Baptist Church in Ashland, Diane loved the Lord fiercely and lived her life as a reflection of His light. Her faith was not just spoken—it was shown, in the meals she cooked, the prayers she offered, and the quiet strength she brought to every room.
She had a deep love for her family, her faith, and the finer joys of life—fashion, wine, a good Southern meal, and moments that brought people together.
She is survived by her three children: Truly Ager of New York, NY; Chris Ager and his wife Erin of Chicago, IL; and Rebecca Long and her husband Kevin of Mountain Brook, AL. She also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren—James, Jessica, and Katelyn—who lit up her world, and her brother Jack Honeycutt and his wife Shirley.
In her later years, Diane was lovingly cared for by two extraordinary women who became part of the family's heart: Maryline Herron, her devoted caregiver and friend who stood by her nearly every day for almost a decade after her husband's passing, and Sarah Escobar, a faithful companion and part-time caregiver she met through Hanover Friends Church. Their presence brought Diane comfort, dignity, and deep joy. The Ager family is profoundly grateful for their compassion, loyalty, and love.
To know Diane was to be seen, to be loved without conditions, and to be gently reminded of what matters most. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, every lesson she taught, and every quiet act of kindness that bore the fingerprints of her faith.
A celebration of her life will be held at Covenant Woods in Mechanicsville at 10:00am on Monday, April 28th.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Ashland or the Pregnancy Resource Center in Richmond, organizations close to Diane’s heart.
