YOUNG, Donald Carl, 76, of Mechanicsville, Va., was called home on December 15, 2013. He was born on April 11, 1937 in Caroline County, Va. Donald is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sister, Joan (Jimmy); brother, David (Darlene); sons, Ray (Karen) Keith (Angie); daughters, Donna (Lenny), Joanna (Todd) and Mary Beth; grandchildren, Shannon, Nikki, Ashley, Haley, Daniel, Matthew, Austin and Nathan. He was retired from the Elevator Constructors Union, Local 51 after 40 years of service. He was a Mason for 50 years with the Ashland Masonic Lodge #168 AF&AM. Don enjoyed driving his tractor and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed his garage and reading in his spare time. Don was loved and will be missed by many. The family will receive friends in the Nelson Funeral Home Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, December 19, with burial in Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Lung Association.
