Douglas Nelson Terrell

Terrell, Douglas Nelson, age 77 of Montpelier, VA went to be with the Lord July 25th, 2022. He was proceeded in death by his father Courtney Nelson Terrell and mother Barbara Ellen Harris Terrell. He is survived by is loving wife of 43 years Donna M Terrell; two loving sons, Robert Terrell (Amy), Jay McFarland (Gay Nell); sister, Teresa Walton (Ronnie); Grandchildren, Jalyn McFarland, Seth Stanley (Kassidy), Samantha Thornhill (Nick), Daniel Guilford and Ryan Guilford; Great-Grandchildren Sailor Thornhill, Bentley Stanley and Arlo Thornhill, as well as Niece Deanna Cronin (Ed) and Nephew Brian Walton.

Doug was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School(1963). Entering the US Armed Forces and earning a Honorable Discharge in 1971.

Doug loved to participate in many hobbies which included, calf roping and rodeo, riding motorcycles, drag races and other motor sports. He also was an avid sportsman in fox hunting which he participated in field trials and was a member of West Hanover Fox Hunters Association where he served as a director as well as servicing as a member of other associations over his time.

Doug spent most of his professional career as a Project Manager with Marcellus Wright, Cox & Smith Architects and as a Project Manager for J Sargent Reynolds Community College.

The Family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm and again from 6pm to 8pm on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S Washington Hwy., Ashland, Va. Internment will be private at the Terrell Family Cemetery. A Celebration of Life event will be held at a later time.

The family wishes to thank, Henrico Doctors Hospital-Forrest, Parham Doctors Rehabilitation Unit, Emcompass Rehabilitation and West Hanover Rescue Squad.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
