She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 71 years, Harris P. Baugh. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Burton Lingerfelt and Willie Catherine Poarch Atwater, as well as Allie E. Hancock, who was like a third grandmother to Edna's children.
She met her husband when she was in high school and married upon graduation from John Marshall H.S. Among the things she was most proud of was the home they built together where they lived for over sixty years and raised their three children.
Edna took great delight in her many hobbies and interests. As a genealogist, she enjoyed researching family histories and making historical connections. She enjoyed puzzling, crafts, collecting, square dancing, and tatting lace as well as playing bingo with her friends. These pursuits brought her much joy, and many of her handmade treasures will continue to be cherished by her family.
Her legacy lives on through her loving children: her son, Richard A. Baugh (Cathy); her daughter, Teresa B. Smith (Chris Mastro); and her son, David G. Baugh (Cindy Denmark). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Gwendolyn B. Ashworth, Evan H. Baugh, Henry T. Smith, Allison M. Smith, and Maggie E. Smith, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, who were also a source of great joy.
Edna will be remembered for her kind heart, practical wisdom, loyalty, and steadfast love for her family. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the lives she shaped, the traditions she passed down, and the love she gave.
Services are Private. Online condolences and fond memories of Edna may be offered to the family on the Nelsen Funeral Home-Reid Chapel website.
