
Edward Carroll Taylor, Sr., 88, of Hanover Courthouse, Virginia, died peacefully at his home January 23, 2014. Known to all his family as Eddie Carroll, he was the youngest child of the late Clarence and Kate Taylor. He was born on April 11, 1925. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Elmyra Davis Taylor. He is survived by his children, Ed Taylor Jr. (Judy), and Myra Cramer (Doug), of Hanover; grandsons, Benjamin Carroll Cramer, Shawn Nelson of Hanover, Patrick Nelson of Richmond, Va.; four great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. Eddie Carroll served the Hanover Courthouse community as Post Master from 1946 until his retirement in 1982. Eddie Carroll was a founding member of the Hanover Courthouse Volunteer Fire Department, the Hanover Courthouse Ruritan and The Hanover Historical Society. A lifelong resident of Hanover, he was often asked for historical facts about the county and the Courthouse area. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2014 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
