Edwin A. Haley Sr.

HALEY, Edwin “Argyle” Sr., was called home to be with God on June 12, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Dorothy Haley and his sister, Mary Kathryn. Argyle is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret; two sons, Argie and Max (Debbie). He has four granddaughters, Michelle, Ashley (Carter), Whitney and Kaitlyn; two great-grandchildren, Ashtyn and Brycen. He is also survived by his siblings, Maxine Hazelgrove, Roy Haley and Jerry Lee Beck (John). Mr. Haley was a graduate of Virginia Tech. He served distinguishably in Korea where he was awarded a purple heart and retired as a Major from the United States Army Reserves. After Korea, he joined his father at Haley and Durett Hardware in Ashland. After retiring, Argyle got to pursue one of his passions, driving tractor/ trailer trucks. He also enjoyed playing golf with his many lifelong friends. Argyle was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon and was on the finance committee. He was also a member of the Billy Flowers Sunday School class. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm on Monday, June 20, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Ashland, VA, where a memorial service will take place at 2pm. A reception will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church or to their Shoe Box fund.
