CARNEAL, Lois Luck, from Montpelier, Va., received her angel wings on April 27, 2021 at the age of 83.

She was predeceased by her husband, Marshall Linwood Carneal; her parents, Edward Preston Luck and Ruby Anna Luck; and her brother, Edward Thomas Luck.

She is survived by a sister, Doris L. Luck (John) of Beaverdam, Va.; three nieces, Lisa Gravitt (Matt) of Glen Allen, Va., Tammy L. Hill of Jacksonville, Fla. and Patricia L. Coley of Garner, N.C.; a nephew, Edward Thomas Luck Jr. (Tommy) of Apex, N.C.; a great-nephew, Josh Gravitt, the "apple of her eye"; a dear friend, Ken Taylor; and other extended family members.

Lois graduated from Montpelier High School in 1954. She worked for the Virginia Employment Commission for 41 years. She was a longtime member of Chapel Church of Christ, where she faithfully served in various capacities. She was the Sunshine Secretary for many years, sending dozens of cards each month to brighten someone's day. She sang in the church choir and was known for her beautiful alto voice. She served as the Church Secretary as well. Also, she made sure we had a beautiful bulletin awaiting us each Sunday morning. She sang in a group called The Christian Heirs Quartet with her husband, Marshall, for many years. It was very obvious that pleasing God and doing His will was the most important thing in her life. Lois loved sports, especially softball and basketball (University of Kentucky Wildcats), and when younger, liked to participate in various sports. She was an avid league bowler. Lois will be remembered for her beautiful smile, having a quiet spirit and always putting others before herself. She will be truly missed by her family and all those who met her during her temporary stay here on earth.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 8, at 1 p.m. at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover, Va. Interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, she requested that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Because of COVID-19, please plan to wear a mask.
