He was preceded in death by his father, James Marshall Newcomb.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Laura Lee Newcomb; wife, Misty Newcomb; children, Andrew Newcomb and Macie Newcomb; step-children, Kara, Lacey, Brendan, and Shane; 5 grandchildren; brothers, Wade Newcomb (Marie), Jimmy Newcomb (Paige), and Robbie Newcomb (Cindy); and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Clay was a dedicated lifelong farmer, which was his passion. He was proud to carry on his family's legacy. He was known for many achievements in agriculture such as growing high-yielding corn.
He also loved hunting and being outdoors. He will be remembered for his kindness and compassion to everyone around him. He was always going out of his way to look out for others. He enjoyed time spent with his hunting buddies and friends. Above all else, he deeply loved his family. Especially his children, as they were his pride and joy. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Clay will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on his family farm.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to Team Quinn, a non-profit ALS organization in Clay's honor. Donations may be made at https://teamquinnva.org/donate/
