Nécrologie de Sharon Coleman Goodman
On June 9, 1963, a beautiful flower named Sharon Marie graced the world with her presence. She was the fourth child born to Edith and the late Roger Coleman, Sr. On the morning of Thursday, April 11, 2024, God reached down and picked a beautiful flower and placed it in His garden. In addition to her father, Sharon was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Coleman Jr., and in-laws, Elnora and Edwin Carter. Sharon was born and raised in Ashland, Virginia. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the historic Brown Grove Baptist Church. Sharon attended Hanover County Public Schools and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1981. It was in high school that she met the love of her life, Ernest L. Goodman. The couple wed on May 3, 1985, and were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Dawn Marie and Amanda Denai. Sharon’s life was a testament to the beautiful spirit she possessed. She was a beacon of love and joy to her family and friends. Growing up, hersmile and reddish-brown hair earned her the nickname, Lucy. She earned MVP honors in basketball and softball throughout her middle and high school years. She was an outstanding first baseman throughout her softball career in school and beyond. In addition to watching the Baltimore Ravens, Sharon enjoyed dancing, playing games, hosting family gatherings in her backyard, going to the casino, gardening, and shopping. Did I say shopping? QVC, HSN, Amazon, and any other store, online or otherwise, no store was off limits. One of Sharon’s greatest accomplishments was her career with the Hanover County Treasurer’s Office. Sharon began working in the Treasurer’s Office as a co-op student in high school and continued for 40 years, retiring in December 2020, at the age of 57. Since her retirement, she enjoyed daily visits to mom’s house, leisurely walks with Uncle Bob, watching Tiktok videos, perusing the aisles of her favorite stores, or frequenting her favorite spot, Rosie’s! Left to cherish her beautiful memories are her loving and devoted husband, Ernie; loving daughters, Dawn Smith (Jordan) and Amanda Goodman; grandsons, Kohen M. and Kasen M. Smith, and Cade T. Clark; mother, Edith J. Coleman; sisters, Beverly J. Harris, Brenda C. Brown (Roger), and Kimberley Coleman; sister-in-law, Marilyn J. Coleman; aunts, Pearl J. Harris, Nettie Tyler, Gladys Coleman, and Shirley Lewis; devoted uncle, Robert Johnson; nieces, Brandi Watkins, Stacie Brown, and Stefany Whittaker (Shamel); nephews, Jonathan and Jordan Harris, and Jarrett Coleman; godsons, Xavier Anderson and Jarrett Coleman; five great-nieces; four great-nephews; a host of other relatives, and friends.
