Sylvia Gay Thomas Palmer

PALMER, Sylvia Gay Thomas, 80, of Richmond, Va., passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 2, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Piggy" Palmer; daughter, Shelby Palmer; parents, Albert and Marjorie Thomas; sisters, Barbara Brett and Sharon Brock; and brother, Malcolm Thomas. She is survived by her sons, Lloyd "Dickie" Windle (Sandy) and Thomas "Tom" Palmer (Stacey); daughters, Deborah Thornton (Andy) and Pamela Taylor (Skee); 13 grandchildren, Marc Harlow, Angela Gayle, Phil Smethers, Jon Smethers, Andrew Thornton, Chris Robens, Brandon Robens, Adam Windle, Tyler Windle, Stephen Huffman, Alex Palmer, Kyle Palmer, Emily Palmer; 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Neal Thomas; sister, Joann Seay; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Robbie and Kara Peatross. A special thanks to her sister, Joann and niece, Tracy and their family for assisting in her care. Gay's favorite moments consisted of cooking in the kitchen with her granddaughters and entertaining for her family and friends. She was always ready for a road trip and had a true passion for her next big adventure. Gay will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, from 5 to 6 p.m. for family and 6 to 8 p.m. for friends and family at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Highway. Graveside service will be on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Road.
