“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” William Bernard (Buck) Carneal passed peacefully at home October 12, 2021. Buck was born September 2, 1932 in Beaverdam, VA. He is survived by his loving companion of 28 years Joyce Jones, daughters Judy Payne (Robbie) and Janet Atkinson (Jeff), 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, brothers Donald and Aubrey Carneal, sister Frances Dalton and many extended family/friends. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Virginia Carneal, son William Bernard Carneal Jr (Bobby) grandson Stephen Abernethy Payne and brother Charles Carneal. After serving in the Korean War, he settled in Henrico County and began a career as a metal fabricator before retiring from Oscar Fields Manufacturing. In his spare time, he was happiest when hunting, fishing or enjoying the outdoors. Additionally, he was a lifelong Nascar fan and would proudly boast FORD stood for First, On, Race, Day. The family will receive friends 9:30am-11:30am on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005. A graveside service will follow at 12pm at Woodland Cemetery, 11310 Hanover Ave., Ashland, VA 23005. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to VFW, Veterans Foreign Wars, https://www.vfw.org/foundation
